A lot has changed in the past 15 years. Governments have come and gone, a global pandemic, free trade agreements have been replaced by tariffs, and the cost of living has soared to levels that many people could never have dreamed of.
Through it all, the cost of a meal at Mission Services has remained the same—$3.69. Eventually, change has to come, and it’s time for us to increase that for the first time in many years. That’s why we’ve made the decision to change our meal cost to $4.15, effective October 1.
We’ve worked hard to keep it where it has been for many years now, but as prices continue to rise, it was becoming increasingly difficult to provide an adequate meal for that cost. As you’ve likely seen, groceries have become increasingly more expensive over the past number of years, with some items even doubling or tripling in price.
Each dollar that you donate to Mission Services goes farther than it normally would at the grocery store, but food prices continue to rise at unprecedented rates. Through it all, though, we’ll still be here steadfastly, offering hope to our community--one meal ($4.15) at a time.
