Board Member - Volunteer Position
3 Year Term to a Maximum of 2 Terms (1 Position)
POSITION SUMMARY:
Mission Services is currently seeking a volunteer Board Member with experience or understanding of the issues of homelessness, Domestic and Intimate Partner Violence or Addictions and Mental Health issues. Our Board of Directors follows a policy governance model and provides leadership where appropriate in advocating for change in our Community and in Government legislation to enhance the welfare, health and social functioning of people served by Mission Services of Hamilton.
The Board of Directors of Mission Services represents the organization’s members in determining and requiring appropriate organizational performance. The Directors are accountable to members, key stakeholders and the community in general.
The Board strives to be informed about and connected to the work of Mission Services. The Board reviews and develops governing policies with respect to organizational ends and outcomes and ensures the implementation of the Strategic Plan through a relationship with the Executive Director.

Community Services and Outreach - Willow’s/Emma’s Place - Client Advocate
Part-Time, Permanent (2 Positions)
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Client Advocate will provide feminist, trauma-informed, compassionate, low barrier and innovative supports. Client Advocates will assist women, transgender and non-binary individuals whom predominantly have high acuity mental health and addictions, with meeting their basic needs. This includes access to food, showers, laundry facilities and a safe place to rest. The Client Advocate will support individual goals and plans including making referrals to appropriate community agencies/supports. The Client Advocate will assess the safety of the individuals they support and work with them to create personal safety plans as required. The Client Advocate will also provide support with developing coping strategies and education on harm reductions strategies and any other self-identified goals. The Client Advocate will prevent, manage and defuse any behavioural issues that may arise in the space, and encourage a caring, healthy, safe and positive work environment for both peers and service users.

Men’s Emergency Services - Supervisor, Men’s Emergency Shelter
Full-Time, Permanent (1 Position)
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Supervisor, Men’s Shelter will Assist the Manager, Men’s Emergency Services to ensure the effective daily operation of the program within organizational policies and guidelines.
Key Responsibilities include:
• Share responsibility for supporting the operation of the shelter; this will include supporting with resident case management, discharge planning, and connection with community resources
• Provide performance management of shelter staff in consultation with the Manager, Men’s Services
• Ensure the timecard completion of all staff is up to date and accurate and communicate with HR regularly regarding all payroll inquiries
• Ensure the keeping of systematic and accurate statistics and case file records within designated program areas, and provide reports to the Manager, Men’s Services as required
• Manage the shelter database
• Support the ongoing review and development of programs, policies and procedures in consultation with management
• Assist in the interview, orientation and training of new staff, students and volunteers
