Catch-ing the Spirit of Christmas
There are few things that embody the spirit of Christmas more than a warm, hearty meal, surrounded by love and care. That’s what our friends at Catch Hospitality wanted to convey this Christmas season, as they came together to make sure Christmas will be extra special for clients in Mission Services’ shelters.
“We provided turkey dinners to both the men’s and women’s shelters over Thanksgiving,” said Doug, president of Catch, “after experiencing the meaningful impact of Mission Services of Hamilton, it was clear that Mission Services was the perfect fit for our Hamilton Give Back Lunch.”
Catch Hospitality’s Give Back Lunch tradition started in Oakville over 20 years ago. When they opened their Plank and Ciao Bella restaurants in Hamilton, they wanted to use their new locations to make a difference in their new community.
This year’s Hamilton Give Back Lunch was Thursday, December 5, at both Plank and Ciao Bella on Augusta Street, with all lunch-shift sales going directly to Mission Services.
“It’s our way of giving back each holiday season. We invite our community to join us for lunch, and let people know they can join us in spreading some holiday cheer while supporting a charity that is close to our heart,” Doug said.
“Christmas is a wonderful time to give back,” said Wendy Kennelly, Mission Services’ Associate Executive Director, Administration and Community Relations. “There is a wonderful spirit of community that comes with the season, and we can look back on how we’ve been blessed over the past year, and share that with others.”
Over the Christmas season, Mission Services will serve over 6,000 meals to the men, women, and children in our shelters.
“We want our clients to be able to look back on a Christmas spent at Mission Services with fond memories,” said Wendy. “We want them to feel loved and welcomed, and know that they are surrounded by people who truly care about them.”
Greg said the warmth and dedication of the team at Mission Services was a big part of why Catch Hospitality chose to partner with us to help make Christmas special for their neighbours this year.
“The impact Mission Services has on this community is truly remarkable, and we’re so grateful that we can support it.”
