“The 196” is a new youth program that has set a goal of helping 60 young people finish high school and dream of pursuing a post-secondary education. All youth get a healthy afterschool snack and a hot meal as well as homework support and—once a week— recreational time led by Mohawk College student leaders. We aim to create positive attitudes about education among youth whose parents did not attend college or university or who may not be planning on attending post-secondary.
