Addiction Worker (FT – 3 Month Contract)
We currently have an opening for an Addictions Worker to provide direct and indirect services to clients, including pre-treatment, referrals, core and election program delivery, and aftercare. Our ideal candidate has 1 to 2 years of experience in addiction counselling and a good understanding of the therapeutic community and best practices in the treatment of addictions and mental health.

Child and Youth Advocate
Mission Services is recruiting a Child and Youth Advocate on a relief basis to provide emergency shelter services and child witness program supports to women and their dependents experiencing, threatened by and/or affected by violence and/or abuse. The successful candidate will participate in delivering Inasmuch House’s Child and Youth Program, including providing support to the Child Witness Program and Emergency Shelter Service, and providing individual and group supports to women and their dependents.

Child and Youth Recreational Worker
Are you a returning student in social work or a related post-secondary program? We are looking for an excellent communicator and someone who understands issues around woman and child abuse to assist developing and implementing summer recreational programs for children and youth living in Mission Services of Hamilton’s Violence Against Women (VAW) shelter, Inasmuch House. Duties will include contacting potential donors to solicit passes and group rates to remain within budget; providing support and advocacy to children and youth at the shelter; and developing suitable recreational activities for children and youth staying at the shelter.

Women’s Support Worker
This position would be ideal for a returning student in Social Work or a related program who is interested in women’s issues around homelessness, abuse, and poverty. Working at our Violence Against Women (VAW) shelter, Inasmuch House, the successful candidate will assist in the daily operations of the shelter, including answering telephone calls and calls from the crisis line; assisting with formal client engagement opportunities, such as focus groups and surveys; and assisting with special activities, including outings and recreational activities.

Program Support Worker
We have an opening for a summer student returning to post-secondary studies in the fall in Mission Services of Hamilton’s Addiction Services and Alternative Justice Program. This position would be ideal for a student in Addictions, Concurrent Disorders, or a related program and someone who is interested in and knowledgeable about trauma-informed care, anti-racist=m/anti-oppression, mental health, poverty, and holistic practices. The successful candidate will support staff in delivering and continuing to develop the Addiction Services and Alternative Justice Programs. This will include providing direct and indirect services to clients through referrals, orientations, and other activities as required. This role may also participate in documenting evidence-based practice, research reviews, and literature reviews.

This summer student position would be ideal for any returning student in Social Work or a related program with an interested in community-based food program. The successful candidate will support staff in delivering and continuing to develop multiple programs in Mission Services of Hamilton’s Community Services, including our Good Food Centre, women’s drop-in Willow’s Place, and The 196 youth program. Some of the position’s responsibilities will be to assist with client intake, accept and sort food donations, support volunteers and clients as needed, and support staff in gathering data related to food program to use when reporting to funders.

Assistant Director, Women’s Services
The Assistant Director will work closely with the Director of Women’s Service and the Shelter Manager to provide oversight, direction and management to ensure the safe and effective operation of the VAW Emergency Residential, Transitional Support and Child Witness Programs at Inasmuch House a 37 bed VAW facility operated by Mission Services of Hamilton. This will include direction and oversight of daily operations and case work to ensure provision of quality supports and services in accordance with organizational and program policies and procedures, MCSS Shelter Standards, all relevant legislation and cross-sector protocols; program planning, development and evaluation; and orientation, training and supervision to program staff, students and volunteers.
