The Transitional Support Program is a service designed to provide support to women and their children who have experienced violence and abuse.  Transitional Support Workers will assist women in identifying and connecting with the kinds of supports and services required to establish violence and abuse-free lives in the community.  The Transitional Support Program endeavors to use a holistic approach in assisting women and children striving to live safe, meaningful lives in our community.

Is Our Service Right For You?

• Are you a survivor of violence or abuse?  Has someone physically, emotionally, verbally, financially, sexually or in some other manner harmed or hurt you?
• Do you feel unsafe?
• Do you need support, advocacy or referral for counseling, legal issues, housing, parenting support, educational upgrading, etc?

Our Services

• Individual support to address issues of violence and abuse against women.
• Safety planning.
• Developing short and long term goals.
• Assisting women in meeting their goals and carrying out transitional plans.
• Providing information on a variety of healing methods.
• Providing support and/or information on education upgrading, parenting, job training, affordable housing, income support, health and wellness services, legal aid and other services pertaining to women seeking a violence-free life.
• Services for children and youth who have witnessed and/or experienced violence.
• Transportation assistance.
• Cultural interpretation.

A Transitional Support Worker can meet with you over a period of days, weeks or months to assist you in establishing yourself in the community.   She will work with you to determine exactly what types of supports you (and your children) need to live with enhanced safety, comfort and dignity.  If you are interested in finding out more information regarding this program, please call the Transitional Support Worker (TSW) at 905-529-8149 x112.
